The ruling on limiting oneself to knowledge of the cosmic signs without mastering the Islamic legal sciences

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I am a young man at the beginning of my university studies, and I have turned to learning about Allah’s signs in the seas, the mountains, the stars, and the human soul. Is it permissible for me to study this while I have not properly learned the other Islamic legal sciences? Is this direction permissible, or should I abandon it? Please advise us, may Allah reward you.

Answer:
You must focus on Islamic legal knowledge so that you know Allah’s rulings, what Allah wants from you, and what Allah has forbidden for you. These matters are understood with the least effort. As you study, you look at Allah’s signs. You study in your night and day, and Allah’s signs are manifest: the stars, the sun and the moon, the sky, and the earth are all manifest for you to look at and see. And in your study,
And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith]وَفِي الْأَرْضِ آيَاتٌ لِلْمُوقِنِينَ
[Al-Dhariyat:20],
Indeed, in the alternation of the night and the day and [in] what Allah has created in the heavens and the earth are signs for a people who fear Allahإِنَّ فِي اخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَمَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَّقُونَ
[Yunus:6].

The intended meaning : The point is that the signs are clear and evident for whoever seeks them. They do not prevent you from the studies you are currently engaged in. The most important thing is studying the Islamic legal sciences, turning to them, and being diligent in them. At the same time, you reflect on these matters that benefit you and increase your faith in Allah, that He is the Great Truth, the Creator, the All-Knowing, and that He is the One who deserves to be worshipped alone, obeyed in His command, and avoided in His prohibition (Glorified and Exalted is He).
