Seeing the jinn and hearing them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A man claimed that a jinn came to him and asked for a mutual agreement between them; so they shook hands and agreed on goodness, righteousness, and mutual advice. The jinn taught him words to recite whenever he wished to meet him. This man would recite these words, and the jinn would come to him. He is a believer who fears no one but Allah, neither the jinn nor anyone else, but he is an ordinary person. What is your opinion on this, and what is your advice to him? May peace be upon you.

Answer:
I know of nothing in this matter; for they may appear, manifest themselves, and show themselves to some people. They may also speak. A group of our brothers have told us that they heard from many of them during the gatherings of knowledge, during study sessions, and during seclusion in the houses, words of good, and approval of the truth they heard and guidance.
So if he shows him goodness and agrees with him that he will respond to the call of Allah, that he will repent, that he will affirm the oneness of Allah, that he will teach his family, and so on; we know of nothing wrong in this. But if he seeks his help in any of the affairs of people, or calls upon him regarding the unseen; this is not permissible.
As for him speaking with him about goodness and advising him, if he is speaking with the jinn, advising him; there is no harm. But if he calls upon him besides Allah, or seeks his aid, or asks him about matters of the unseen; this is not permissible. As for mere advice; there is no harm.
Some of our trustworthy brothers have told me that a jinn used to attend their gatherings of knowledge with some of the shaykhs. One night he said: "O so-and-so, I attend your gatherings, and, praise be to Allah, I have benefited from them and found guidance. I entrust you to Allah, for I have jihad, and my group has resolved to fight a people of disbelief, and we are traveling. I fear that I may be killed, so I entrust you." He was addressing him with this, and he heard his words in this. This happens to many people in such cases. So if he advises him, directs him to goodness, calls him to goodness, and says to him: "Fear Allah and teach your family," and advises him, we know of no harm in this.
