The Ruling on a Woman Using Birth Control Pills

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A Muslim sister says: I have five children, and I undergo changes with every birth. I went to one of the hospitals in the Kingdom, and I found no treatment except using pills that stop pregnancy. I am aware that I pray, I fast, and I fear Allah that there is something wrong with me regarding this. Please issue a ruling for us, may Allah reward you with good?

Answer:
In case of dire necessity, there is nothing wrong with taking the pills temporarily, if there is an illness or strain on the uterus due to childbirth, or if a surgical procedure is performed. There is no harm in taking the pills for a period of time, such as during the period of breastfeeding for one or two years, so that the uterus can rest somewhat. This requires consulting knowledgeable doctors and reaching an agreement with the husband on this matter. If you both agree and there is harm at a certain time, the pills are taken in a limited amount until the effect that causes the harm is removed.
