The Ruling on Working with Christians and How to Call Them to Islam
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I work in a job where most of the employees are Christians. In the workplace where I work, there are about three hundred Christian men, and I am in contact with them. I want to call them to Islam, but I do not know their language. I ask you, Your Eminence, to give me books in English to distribute to them?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions. As for what follows:
Asking for books is not the issue here; asking for books is in its proper place at the Department of Ifta at the workplace. There is no harm in giving books to these people, perhaps Allah will guide them through that means in their language. But whoever works with them must be careful not to take them as friends and companions, or the like. Rather, he should call them to Allah and encourage them to do good. This is a required matter, perhaps Allah will guide them through it, or guide some of them. You have heard, in what came before, the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) :Sahih al-Bukhari 3701 And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 1893a.
So whoever is afflicted with these people in any job, whether Christians or non-Christians, or Buddhists or others, let him strive to call them to Allah, and let him be an example of good in his Islam. The Muslim who represents goodness in his Islam by his observance of the prayers, his truthfulness in speech, his fulfillment of trusts, his advice to the Muslims, and his avoidance of deception and betrayal, along with other good morals of the Muslims, will thus be a good role model. When the enemies of Allah see him and see his great morals and his praiseworthy qualities, this will be one of the means of calling them to Allah through action.

لأن يهدي الله بك رجلًا واحدًا خير لك من حمر النعمOne who guides to something good has a reward similar to that of its doer.
