Is it permissible for a doctor to examine a woman?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible for a doctor to examine a woman?

Answer:
If there is a pressing need for it, there is nothing wrong with it. However, if there is a female doctor who can examine her, that is better and more appropriate. But if there is a female doctor who knows women's diseases, otherwise it is permissible for the male doctor to examine women out of necessity.
Here is something that should be noted when mentioning fasting. Many patients, when illness strikes, become lax in prayer. They may say, "I will delay it until I recover, so that I can pray with full awareness." This is a mistake. Fasting is delayed because the patient is unable to fast, but prayer is not delayed. The patient must pray according to his condition, even if he is on his side, or even if he is lying on his back. He prays according to his condition by gesturing with his intention. It is not permissible for him to delay it.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to 'Imran ibn Husayn, while he was ill:
offer prayer in standing condition; if you are unable to do so, then in sitting condition: if you are then at your sideصل قائمًا فإن لم تستطع فقاعدًا، فإن لم تستطع فعلى جنب
Sunan Abi Dawud 952Sahih (Al-Albani)
Al-Bukhari narrated it in his Sahih, and al-Nasa'i added in his Sunan:
If you cannot do so, then lying on your sideفإن لم تستطع فمستلقيًا
.
So the patient, if he is able to stand, prays standing. If he is unable, he prays sitting. He prays while sitting, bows in the air, and then prostrates on the ground if he can, until he completes his prayer. If he is unable, he prays on his side, and it is better to pray on his right side. If he is unable, he prays lying on his back. He says the takbir, recites, says the takbir, and bows with his intention. He says, "Subhana Rabbi al-'Azeem" (Glory be to my Lord, the Magnificent), and says, "Sami' Allahu li man hamidah" (Allah hears the one who praises Him). He raises his head with his intention and says, "Rabbana wa laka al-hamd" (Our Lord, to You belongs all praise). Then he says the takbir and prostrates with his intention, saying, "Subhana Rabbi al-A'la" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High). Then he raises his head and says, "Rabbi ighfir li" (My Lord, forgive me). Then he prostrates and says, "Subhana Rabbi al-A'la" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High) with his intention. And so on until he completes his prayer while on his side or lying on his back. He must never delay it; rather, he prays the obligatory and voluntary prayers according to his condition, and worships Allah while in his condition.
If there is difficulty in performing wudu' (ablution), he performs tayammum (dry ablution) with earth if wudu' is not feasible. He performs tayammum with earth; earth is brought to him in a container or on a cloth, and it is kept near him, so he performs tayammum from it when needed. Likewise, when he relieves himself, he wipes with a cloth or tissues. There is no need for water; rather, he wipes his back and front with tissues until the impurity is removed, three times or more, until the impurity is removed from him, and that is sufficient.
And so, if it is feasible to replace his bed with a pure bed, he must pray on it. If a pure bed is not feasible, he prays according to his condition on his own bed, even if it contains impurity:
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[Surat al-Taghabun:16]
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacityلَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا
[Surat al-Baqarah:286] And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
And if I order you to do something, then do of it as much as you can.إذا أمرتكم بأمر فأتوا منه ما استطعتم
Sahih al-Bukhari 7288
.
Therefore, this should be pointed out. Everyone who visits a patient, or has a patient with them, or goes to visit a sick person, should remind them of these things. They should not delay the prayer. It is permissible to combine the Zuhr and 'Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers, due to the hardship upon him.
