Is gold zakat paid from the gold itself, meaning that after the gold is weighed and its value determined, a piece is sold and the zakat is paid out of this gold, or is it permissible?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is gold zakat paid from the gold itself, meaning that after the gold is weighed and its value determined, a piece is sold and the zakat is paid out of this gold, or is it permissible for a guardian, such as a father, brother, or husband, to pay the zakat on the gold of his mahram relatives from his own money?

The Shaykh : It is permissible for a woman to pay the zakat on her jewelry from her own money, or from her husband’s money, or her father’s money, or her brother’s money. Paying the zakat in coins is more beneficial for the poor, because if she gives a piece of her jewelry to a poor person, it may be worth one hundred riyals, but if the poor person sells it, he will sell it for fifty riyals. Therefore, what we see is that the value of the woman’s jewelry, whether she wears it or not, the jewelry she owns, should be assessed, and then one-quarter of a tenth should be paid from it.
