Traveling to Visit the Prophets and the Righteous Dead

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible to travel to visit the prophets and the righteous dead?

Answer:
Answer: This is forbidden and a religious innovation, and it is a means to associating partners with Allah. Therefore, one does not travel for the purpose of visiting graves, and it is not permissible to travel to a place for the sake of worship there except to the three mosques. “Journeys are not undertaken” — meaning one does not travel — “except to three mosques: al-Masjid al-Haram, and this mosque of mine” — the mosque of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah — “and al-Masjid al-Aqsa” in Bayt al-Maqdis. One travels to these three mosques for the purpose of praying in them. One prayer in al-Masjid al-Haram is equivalent to one hundred thousand prayers, one prayer in al-Masjid al-Nabawi is equivalent to ten thousand prayers, and one prayer in al-Masjid al-Aqsa is equivalent to five hundred prayers.
