Sitting with colleagues who commit what is wrong.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is uniting hearts with my colleagues a priority over forbidding them from what is wrong, knowing that I have forbidden it to them at the beginning, and that it may lead to losing them?

Answer:
Answer: No, if the nature of the wrong differs. If the wrong is a grave and severe matter, and you have advised them but they did not comply, then distance yourself from them; do not mix with them. However, if it is something disliked or something that does not reach the level of severe prohibition, continue advising them; do not abandon it. Continue advising them; do not sit with them and remain silent. Repeat the advice, otherwise do not sit with them. It is expected that after repeating the advice, you should not sit with them, for you would then be approving of what they are doing. Among the Children of Israel, a man would see his brother in sin and forbid it to him, then see him a second time and forbid it to him, then see him a third time and remain silent. This did not prevent him from being his companion, his neighbor, and his drinking partner. When Allah saw that from them, He struck the hearts of some of them with others and cursed them on the tongues of their prophets. It is not permissible to sit with sinners who persist in their sin except with the condition of advising them.
