Who is more meritorious, the Muhajireen or the Ansar?

Do we understand that the Muhajireen are better than the Ansar? The Ansar are those who supported the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)?

Answer: Yes, Allah preferred the Muhajireen over the Ansar. He began with them: (To the poor emigrants who were driven out of their homes and their properties, seeking favor from Allah and [His] pleasure and supporting Allah and His Messenger. It is they who are the truthful). Then He said regarding the Ansar: (And [to] those who settled in the land and the faith before them). So Allah mentioned the Muhajireen before the Ansar, because the Muhajireen left their homes, their properties, and their houses. They went out in obedience to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). As for the Ansar, they were in their land, in their houses, and in their properties, may Allah be pleased with them. So the Muhajireen are better: (Indeed, Allah has accepted the repentance of the Prophet, the emigrants, and the Ansar). He always mentions the Muhajireen before the Ansar, so they are undoubtedly better.
