The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: "For the poor emigrants who were driven out of their homes and their wealth, seeking bounty from Allah and His pleasure..."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Among this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
(8) For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking bounty from Allah and [His] approval and supporting Allah and His Messenger, [there is also a share]. Those are the truthful. (9) And [also for] those who were settled in al-Madinah and [adopted] the faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what the emigrants were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful. (10) And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful."
[Al-Hashr 59:8-10]
. These are three categories of people: the emigrants, the helpers, and those who followed them with excellence. Similar to this verse in this regard is the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He:
And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct - Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him والسابقون الأولون من المهاجرين والأنصار والذين اتبعوهم بإحسان رضي الله عنهم ورضوا عنه
[At-Tawbah 9:100]
. So the categories of this Ummah are three: the first category is the emigrants. The second is the helpers. The third is the followers.
As for the emigrants, they are those who emigrated from their homes, their wealth, and their families to Allah and His Messenger. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent in Mecca, as is well known, and he called to Allah and continued in the call, and he went out to the people of Ta'if and called them. But many of them did not believe in him. So Allah permitted him to emigrate to Madinah. He emigrated to Madinah and found people who supported him, provided for him, and protected him as they protect their own children. They are those who settled in the land and in faith before them. There is no doubt that the emigrants are better than the helpers, because the emigrants combined two things: emigration and support. For this reason, He said:
and supporting Allah and His Messenger وينصرون الله ورسوله
[Al-Hashr 59:8]
. As for the helpers, they came only with support. They supported the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but they were in their own land. For this reason, He said:
And [also for] those who were settled in al-Madinah and [adopted] the faith before them والذين تبؤوا الدار والإيمان من قبلهم
[Al-Hashr 59:9]
. This is in general terms; otherwise, it is possible that one person, for example, from the helpers is better than one person from the emigrants, but in general terms.
