The Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) supplication for the Ansar.

Question:
What was the occasion for the Messenger’s (peace and blessings be upon him) supplication for the Ansar when he said: “Forgive the Ansar, and the sons of the Ansar, and the sons of the sons of the Ansar”?

Answer:
Answer: Yes, the occasion for that was that when he distributed the war spoils in some of the expeditions, he allocated a share to those whose hearts were to be reconciled, giving them a gift to reconcile them to Islam, and he left the Ansar alone because of their faith, the strength of their faith, and the fact that they do not look to the greed of this world, so he entrusted them to the strength of their faith (may Allah be pleased with them). When some of them spoke about some of this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) convinced them and clarified to them how he would allocate to some people, or give to people and leave some of them out; that he who was left out was left out because of the strength of his faith, and he who was given and increased was given so because of the weakness of his faith. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) places things in their proper places, and does not give according to desire, nor does he withhold according to desire, but rather that is for wisdom and justice from him (peace and blessings be upon him).
