Withholding daughters from marriage due to greed for their salaries

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the Shaykh’s advice to fathers who are greedy for the salaries of their daughters who are teachers? They receive more than ten thousand and delay the marriage of these daughters out of greed for the salaries, even though there are suitors who are suitable?

Answer:
Answer: This is not permissible. It is not permissible for a father to delay the marriage of his daughter out of greed for her job and salary. This is withholding his daughter and depriving her of the opportunity for marriage. He should marry her off if a suitable and righteous suitor proposes to her, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “When there comes to you one whose religion and trustworthiness you are pleased with, then marry him; if you do not, there will be a fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) on the earth and great corruption.” This is ‘adhl (withholding) of the woman, and Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) has forbidden the ‘adhl of women. If a suitable and righteous suitor proposes to her, he should hasten to marry her off. He said (Exalted and Majestic is He): “And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty. And Allah is All-Encompassing and Knowing.”
