What is your advice to fathers who prevent their daughters from getting married, especially if they are working, out of their desire for their salaries?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : His EminenceThe Shaykh : Some fathers prevent their daughters from getting married, especially if they have salaries. For example, a man has three daughters, each earning seven thousand. He considers this a great profit and prevents his daughter from marrying, rejecting the suitors. What is your advice to these fathers?

The Shaykh : First, we say that this is forbidden for him, and it is not permissible for him to prevent his daughter from marrying a suitable man if she is pleased with him. But if he does so, we say: Praise be to Allah, sit down... and we move on to the next guardian. For example, if she has a brother and the father refuses to marry her off because he wants to take her salary, her brother can marry her off even in the presence of the father. If the father repeatedly rejects suitable suitors, listen: if the father repeatedly rejects suitable men, he becomes an open sinner. His testimony is not accepted, and he is not accepted as an imam for people, meaning he does not lead people in prayer according to the opinion of some scholars. It is not valid for him to be a guardian, because he is an open sinner due to his persistence in sin. Do you understand?
And it is said to this father: This salary that the daughter receives, you are entitled to take it even if she gets married, because the father is entitled to take from his child's wealth whatever he wishes, as long as it does not harm him or the son has a need for it. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
You and your wealth belong to your father أنت ومالك لأبيك
So you should marry her off and take from her salary what you want, provided that it does not cause her harm.
