Question:
Is the interpretation of the saying of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He: “O children of Adam, take your adornment at every masjid” — does it mean that a person covers only his 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered)?

Answer:
Answer: This is obligatory. It is obligatory for him to cover his 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered), which for a man is what is between the navel and the knee. As for the woman, her entire body is 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) in prayer, except her face, if there are no men present other than her mahram (a relative one may not marry). However, if there are men present other than her mahram (a relative one may not marry), she must cover her entire body, covering her face and the rest of her body. Covering the rest of her body is a condition for the validity of the prayer, while covering her face is required from the men present with her.
