Advice to Enthusiastic Youth and Warning Them Against Takfirist Groups

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
It is undeniable that youth, with their enthusiasm and intense emotion, are the primary target of these deviant and extremist groups. What do you advise youth to do to guard against these malicious and takfirist groups?

Answer:
Answer: I advise youth to seek beneficial Islamic knowledge from scholars so that they may know the methodology of these groups and the methodology of others, for there is no way out of this except through beneficial knowledge. They must learn from scholars. Jihad is mentioned in books of creed, along with its guidelines, conditions, and who is qualified to establish it. Youth are certainly susceptible to misguiders and proponents of destructive ideas, because youth have enthusiasm and emotion and are easily influenced, but they lack wisdom and knowledge of matters. They must turn to the people of knowledge, and they must adhere to obedience and listening to the one in authority, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman about the abundance of trials, callers to misguidance, and callers at the gates of Hellfire, saying that whoever obeys them will be thrown into it. Hudhayfah asked, "What do you command me to do, O Messenger of Allah, if I encounter that?" He said, "Adhere to the community of the Muslims and their imam." For this is salvation from these trials: adhering to the community. Regarding obedience and listening, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Whoever of you lives will see much disagreement. So hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs after me. Hold fast to them." When they asked him for advice, as if it were the advice of one about to depart, they said, "Advise us, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "I advise you to fear Allah, to obey and listen, even if a slave is appointed over you. Whoever of you lives will see much disagreement. So hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs after me. Hold fast to them." There is no salvation except by adhering to the community of the Muslims and adhering to the Book and the Sunnah. This is something that is referred back to the firmly grounded scholars in knowledge, who clarify for people the correct path from the wrong path.
