Question:
We begin with the exegesis of two blessed verses in Surat Yunus, in the statement of the Truth – Blessed and Exalted is He – I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan: {O mankind, there has come to you an admonition from your Lord and a healing for what is in the breasts, and guidance and mercy for the believers (57) Say: In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy, let them rejoice; that is better than what they accumulate (58)} [Yunus: 57-58]

Answer:
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. In these two verses from Surat Yunus, Allah the Exalted says: {O mankind, there has come to you an admonition from your Lord and a healing for what is in the breasts, and guidance and mercy for the believers (57) Say: In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy, let them rejoice; that is better than what they accumulate (58)} [Yunus: 57-58]. Allah – Exalted and Majestic is He – says to His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): Say, {O mankind}, meaning all people; because this Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent to all people. The prophets before him were sent specifically to their own people. This is one of his (peace and blessings be upon him) unique characteristics: that he was sent to all people. Say, {O mankind, there has come to you an admonition from your Lord}: This great Qur'an is an admonition, it is guidance, it contains rulings and legislation, and it contains news about the past and the future. The sciences of the Qur'an are numerous, among which is that it is an admonition for people. The admonition is the advice that affects the hearts and reminds them of the events that have passed and what will come in the future. So the believer is admonished by the news of the Qur'an and the stories of the Qur'an; in them is admonition. And {a healing for what is in the breasts}: This is the second matter that came to people; that it is a healing for what is in the breasts of doubts, disbelief, and hypocrisy, and that faith in Allah and tranquility should take the place of that. {A healing for what is in the breasts}: meaning for the hearts. A healing for the hearts that are in the breasts. And {guidance}: meaning indication and direction for whoever wants good and wants the truth. And {mercy}: The Qur'an is described as mercy; mercy for people; because it came to them with what benefits them and saves them from punishment and anger, so the Qur'an is mercy. {A healing for what is in the breasts} and it is mercy; this is among the descriptions of the Noble Qur'an. And guidance and admonition for the righteous; those who benefit from this guidance and admonition are the righteous who fear Allah – Glorified and Exalted is He –; they fear His anger and His punishment, and they take it as a protection that protects them, a protection from righteous deeds that protects them from immediate and future dangers. And {mercy for the believers}: Only the believing people benefit from this admonition and this guidance. As for the disbelievers, the hypocrites, and the polytheists, they will not benefit from this admonition and healing unless they believe in Allah – Mighty and Majestic – and believe in this Qur'an and take it as an argument for them. Then He – Exalted and Majestic is He – said: {Say: In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy, let them rejoice; that is better than what they accumulate (58)}. What brings joy is these two things: the bounty of Allah, which is Islam, and His mercy, which is the Qur'an. These are the two things with which one should rejoice. As for rejoicing in this world, it is blameworthy, as He – Exalted and Majestic is He – said: {And they rejoiced in the life of this world, but the life of this world in the Hereafter is nothing but a temporary enjoyment (26)} [Ar-Ra'd: 26]. Say: In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy, in these two things, let them rejoice. So whoever Allah guides to Islam, and understands this Qur'an and believes in it and holds fast to it, he will rejoice in that true joy. {That is better than what they accumulate}: This joy, which is by the bounty of Allah and His mercy, is better than the joy in what they accumulate from this world and its debris.
