Exegesis of a verse from Surat al-Isra

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We will explain the blessed verse in Surat al-Isra, in the saying of the Truth—Blessed and Exalted is He—I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan: “The seven heavens and the earth and all that is in them glorify Him, and there is nothing but glorifies His praise, but you do not understand their glorification. Indeed, He was Forbearing and Forgiving” [al-Isra: 44].

Answer:
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. In this noble verse, Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) says of Himself—(Exalted and Majestic is He)—“The seven heavens and the earth and all that is in them glorify Him, and there is nothing but glorifies His praise.” Tasbih means declaring Allah free of all imperfections, meaning that these great creations and those within them all declare Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) free of all imperfections, each in its own language and tongue. Even though we do not understand the language of these creations and inanimate objects, Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) knows it. The seven heavens and the earth and all that is in them—among the creations, the humans, the jinn, and the angels—all glorify Allah and declare Him free of all imperfections. Likewise, these creations and inanimate objects all glorify Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), meaning they declare Him free of any likeness or equivalent and free of shirk (associating partners with Allah). Tasbih means declaring Allah free of all imperfections, each in its own language which Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) knows. For this reason, He said, “But you do not understand their glorification,” meaning you do not understand it, you do not understand their glorification, but Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) knows it. “But you do not understand their glorification. Indeed, He was Forbearing and Forgiving.” This verse contains the obligation to declare Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) free of shirk, tashbih (likening Allah to creation), ta'til (denial of the divine attributes), and anything that does not befit His Majesty. It also states that all His creations, whether speaking or inanimate, all glorify Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), each in its own language which no one knows except Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
