Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
of the question: What is the interpretation of the Quranic verse: (And thus We have made you a middle nation)?

Answer:
The meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And thus We have made you a middle nation that you may be witnesses over the people) [al-Baqarah: 143] is that We only commanded you to face the Ka'bah in the prayer, which is the qiblah of Ibrahim (peace be upon him). We chose this qiblah for you to honor you thereby, and to make you the best of nations, and to be just and chosen ones who testify over the nations on the Day of Resurrection that their messengers conveyed to them the messages of their Lord and established the proof against them. Thus, the middle is the chosen and the best. And when Allah made this nation middle, He distinguished it with the most complete of the Shari'ahs and the best of the methodologies. Allah the Exalted said: (He has chosen you and not made upon you in the religion any hardship, the religion of your father Ibrahim. He named you Muslims before [now] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you) [al-Hajj: 78].
