Question:
A message was received by the program from one of the brother listeners, containing a collection of questions. Among his questions was one regarding the exegesis of a verse from the Book of Allah. The text of the verse is: I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan [Al-An'am: 137]. Please explain this verse to us? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
This noble verse, on its apparent meaning, refers to "their partners": their objects of worship other than Allah. They made attractive to them what Shaytan made attractive to them, namely those whom they worshipped other than Allah. They made attractive to them the idea that their objects of worship other than Allah should kill their children in injustice and aggression. They said in this regard: killing a daughter is out of fear of disgrace, and killing a son is out of fear of need and poverty. So Allah forbade them from this by His saying—(Exalted and Majestic is He): [Al-An'am: 151]. For this reason, He said—(Exalted and Majestic is He): [Al-An'am 6:137]
Therefore, it is obligatory to be cautious of obeying the Shayatins who call to shirk (associating partners with Allah), to killing children without right, and to every act of lewdness and injustice. Allah named them "partners" because they associated them with Allah in worship and obeyed them in the sins of Allah and in shirk with Him. So they were named "partners" for that reason. And Allah, (Glorified and Exalted is He), has no partner; rather, He is the One, the Unique, who is worthy of worship other than everything else—(Exalted and Majestic is He). Yes.

And likewise, to many of the polytheists their partners have made [to seem] pleasing the killing of their children in order to bring about their destruction and to cover them with confusion in their religion. And if Allah had willed, they would not have done so. So leave them and that which they invent.
