If the farm's produce is not sufficient to pay off the debts, is zakah obligatory on it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I work as a farmer. If my harvest does not even cover my debts, and I have many debts, am I required to pay zakah?

Answer:
Yes, crops are subject to obligatory zakah, even if you have debts. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to take zakah from farmers and farm owners without asking whether they had debts or not. This is visible wealth from which zakah is taken.
