Explanation of the recipients of zakah and the difference between the poor and the needy

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q160: The questioner asks: Who are the recipients of zakah?
A160: The recipients of zakah are those mentioned in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Zakah expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakah] and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler - an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.
[At-Tawbah 9:60]
. These are eight categories, and Allah has restricted zakah to them, so the recipients of zakah are those mentioned in this noble verse, and it is not permissible to give it to anyone else.
