If traces of blood remain in the mouth, does it invalidate the fast?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 20467 )
Q: I have bleeding in my mouth while fasting. This bleeding appears when I wake up from sleep, and when I rinse my mouth with water during the times of prayer. After rinsing two or three times, the blood lightens to a pale red, and sometimes to yellow. How should I swallow my saliva? Knowing that the bleeding may continue for a period, what is the ruling on swallowing the yellow substance if there is no taste of blood? Knowing that I
consulted a doctor and he prescribed medication for me, but it did not help.
A: If the situation is as you described, then you must strive to get rid of the blood mixed with your saliva, by rinsing your mouth, and you must be careful not to swallow any of it. As for the few yellow traces remaining in the saliva, there is no blame on you for them, and your fast is valid, if Allah wills. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
