Fasting on the Day of 'Ashura: Is it the ninth and tenth, or the tenth and eleventh, or all three together?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 18547 )
Q2: Fasting on the Day of 'Ashura: Is it the ninth and tenth, or the tenth and eleventh, or all three together?
A2:Fasting on the Day of 'Ashura, which is the tenth day of the month of Muharram, is a confirmed sunnah. It is better to fast the day before it or the day after it, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided us to do, in order to differfrom the Jews, and if one fasts all three days, that is more complete, as the ImamIbn al-Qayyimmentioned in (Zad al-Ma'ad). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
