He had days of Ramadan to make up and died before fasting them

The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 18057 )
Q4: My father passed away, and he had two days of Ramadan to make up due to illness , from a year prior to the year of his death. He died in Shawwal and mentioned that he would feed people for the two days. What is the ruling, and what is obligatory for us regarding this? Do we fast on his behalf and feed people, or do we only feed people? We do not know whether he fed people for them or fasted.
He was suffering from diabetes and used to fast Ramadan with difficulty.

A4: If your father was able to make up the fasting he owed from the previous Ramadan but was lenient in making it up until the Ramadan after which he died entered – then the best for you is that one of you fasts to make up the two days he owed; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: If anyone dies in a state (that he had to complete) some fasts, his heir must fast on his behalf.من مات وعليه صيام صام عنه وليه
Sahih Muslim 1147
agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. And if you feed on his behalf a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the local staple food, which is approximately three kilograms, that suffices. However, if he was unable to make up the two days before Ramadan due to illness, then there is no making up and no feeding; because he did not neglect it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
