Explanation of the Form of Supplications Before and After Ablution

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q33: The questioner, Saleh from Sudan, asks about the supplication prescribed before and after ablution?
A33: There is no supplication before ablution except saying: "In the name of Allah," based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
the ablution of a person who does not mention the name of Allah is validلا وضوء لمن لم يذكر اسم الله عليه
Sunan Abi Dawud 102Sahih Maqtu' (Al-Albani)
As for the supplication after ablution, as reported in the authentic collections, one raises his gaze to the sky and says:
I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone, there are no partners for Him. And I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. O Allah! Make me among the repentant, and make me among those who purify themselves.أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، وأشهد أن محمدًا عبده ورسوله، اللهم اجعلني من التوابين واجعلني من المتطهرين
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 55Da'if (Darussalam)
This is what was reported to be said after ablution, and the wisdom behind it, and Allah knows best, is to combine the two purities: the physical purity with water, and the spiritual purity with the oneness of Allah. One purifies oneself from associating partners with Allah with the word of the oneness of Allah, and purifies oneself from religious innovation with the testimony that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
That is, and Allah knows best, in order to combine the two purities: the physical purity with water, and the spiritual purity with tawhid (the oneness of Allah). One purifies oneself from shirk (associating partners with Allah) with the word of tawhid, and purifies oneself from bid'ah (religious innovation) with the testimony that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
