Explaining what is obligatory upon the one whom people entrust with distributing zakat al-fitr

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q130: The questioner says: Last year, I was entrusted with collecting zakat al-fitr and distributing it before the festival. However, I was struck by a health crisis, so the alms for the festival accumulated with me, and I did not distribute them until one day after the festival. What is the ruling on this?
A130: This is one of the defects of collecting alms for the festival, as some associations do, in that they do not deliver them to the recipients at the time of distribution. Therefore, one should not act as an agent for distributing alms for the festival, nor should one be entrusted with it, except by one who trusts that he will deliver it to the deserving recipients before the festival prayer. Otherwise, he should leave it with the owners, as they are the ones obligated to deliver it.
