The ruling on the zakah of real estate intended for trade if it is sold before the completion of the lunar year

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q100: The questioner says: A person has a piece of land that he has put up for sale with the intention of making a profit. Before the completion of the lunar year of his ownership, he needed money, so he asked the real estate agent to sell it, even if it is for the principal amount or less. Is there any zakah due on this land?
A100: If he sells it before the completion of the lunar year of his ownership, and spends the proceeds before the completion of the lunar year, then there is no zakah on it. However, if the proceeds or part of them remain with him and the lunar year passes over them, then he must pay zakah on the proceeds by giving out one-quarter of a tenth.
