Does the reward for prayer increase with the number of funerals?

Q: The brother S.G. from Riyadh says in his question: A man prayed over five funerals in a single prayer. Does he receive one qirat for each funeral, or is the qirat based on the number of prayers? May Allah reward you with good.

A: We hope he receives qirats equal to the number of funerals; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): and what has come in the meaning of that in the hadiths, all of which indicate that the qirats multiply according to the number of funerals. So, whoever prays over a funeral receives one qirat, and whoever follows it until it is buried receives one qirat, and whoever prays over it and follows it until the burial is completed receives two qirats. This is from the favor, generosity, and bounty of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) upon His servants. So, to Him belong praise and gratitude; there is no deity but Him and no Lord besides Him. And success is from Allah.
