Naming a Girl "Malak"
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 17467 )
Q1: Is it permissible to name a girl "Malak," given that we heard from one of the scholars of knowledge that it is the feminine form of "Malik" (angel), and there are no females among the angels?
A1: It is not permissible to name a girl "Malak," because "Malak" means an angel, one of the noble angels, and it is not permissible to apply the name "angel" to a female; because of the
disrespect this entails. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
