Announcing the 'Aqiqah in the Mosque
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 21700 )
Q1: We announce the 'Aqiqah in the mosques and invite people to it on the seventh day. When they come, they give the father of the newborn money and congratulate him, then they choose
a scholar to inform them and admonish them. If the father of the newborn is among the wealthy, he prepares food and drinks for them. Question: Is this permissible or not? Please inform us in light of our question. May Allah reward you.
A1: The practice mentioned regarding the 'Aqiqah is not prescribed; because there is no evidence for it. What is prescribed regarding the 'Aqiqah is to eat from it, give it as a gift, and give it in charity, just as is done with the 'Id sacrifice. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
