The type of sheep that is sufficient
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 18417 )
Q2: I would like to ask about the 'Id sacrifice. In the town, there are all types of sheep, including Harri, Sawakini, and others. Is any type acceptable for the sacrifice, or only one specific type? Please inform us. May Allah reward you with good.
A2: It is prescribed to offer the 'Id sacrifice with all livestock, including camels, cattle, and sheep, provided they have reached the age considered sufficient for validity and are free from defects that prevent validity. There is no difference among sheep between Harri, Sawakini, Najdi,
and all other types of sheep. The best of them is the most expensive among their owners and the highest in price. However, only a sheep that has completed six months or more is sufficient, and only a goat that has completed one year or more, a cow that has completed two years, and a camel that has completed five years or more. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
