The one who has missed fasts to make up due to ignorance until he grew old and became unable

The first question of Fatwa No. ( 15439 )
Q1: I am a woman who broke her fast due to illness and was unable to fast, so I did not fast during the blessed month of Ramadan. I know that eight years have passed since I broke my fast in that noble month, and today I have come to know that Ramadan fasts must be made up. I wanted to make them up, but I cannot because of an illness in my chest ; because fasting affects me severely. Is it permissible to feed sixty poor people, or not?
Is it permissible for me to do anything other than fast and feed? And is it permissible to feed with money? I have a brother who intentionally broke his fast for one day of Ramadan about six years ago, and he wanted to make it up. He heard some people say: It is not permissible for you to make it up, even if you fast for the rest of your life. He has not made it up to this day. Please give us a ruling on these two questions, knowing that I am very confused, and I want you to guide us. May Allah reward you with good.
A1: It is obligatory for you to make up the number of days you did not fast in the blessed month of Ramadan eight years ago, along with repentance to Allah the Exalted, and feeding one poor person for each day you make up, the amount being half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the local staple food. If it becomes difficult for you to make up the days due to the chest illness you have, then you feed one poor person for each day, the amount being one and a half kilograms. Likewise, it is obligatory for your brother to make up the day he intentionally did not fast in Ramadan, along with repentance to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and feeding one poor person for the delay in making up the fast. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
