Making up fasting and prayer that were deliberately left off

Fatwa number ( 15847 )
Q: We know that one of the things that invalidate fasting is menstruation. If it ceases for a woman
and she performs the ritual bath, her fast is valid, and she must make it up. There is a woman who, when she saw that her bleeding had stopped, performed the ritual bath. After this bath, the menstruation returned and lasted for one day, then it stopped and she was required to perform the ritual bath, but she did not perform it and fasted for six days after that. Is her fasting for six days valid or invalid? And if it is invalid, is her fasting without the ritual bath like that of someone who deliberately broke their fast? Knowing that her intention was not to do so. If her fasting is like that of someone who deliberately broke their fast and she is poor, she must fast for two consecutive months. This is if she deliberately broke her fast for one day; what about six days?

A: A menstruating woman does not perform the ritual bath until the blood has completely stopped, meaning she sees complete cleanliness. If she performs the ritual bath before seeing complete cleanliness and the sign of purity, and then the blood returns to her, it is considered menstrual blood attached to her usual period, as long as it does not exceed fifteen days. Therefore, the ritual bath mentioned is not valid, and the day on which the blood appeared is considered part of her usual period. She must perform the ritual bath after it has finally stopped. As for fasting after the blood has finally stopped, it is valid, even if she did not perform the ritual bath, because performing the ritual bath is not a condition for the validity of fasting, but rather a condition for the validity of prayer. Therefore, she must make up the prayers of the days mentioned in the question. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
