The questioner : He has a final question, asking: If a man happened to marry two women and had children from both, and after a period of time it was discovered, based on the testimony of some of their relatives, that they were sisters through breastfeeding, what must he do in this situation?

The Shaykh : In this situation, if it is established that his two wives were sisters through breastfeeding.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Then the marriage to the second of them is invalid; the marriage to the last one is invalid, and he must separate from her. Moreover, my saying that he must separate from her does not mean separation by divorce or annulment, but rather that he must separate from her because the marriage has been revealed to be defective, indeed revealed to be invalid. As for the children born to him during this period, they are his legitimate children, because in reality he had intercourse with her under a misconception.

The questioner : Yes, may Allah bless you and reward you.
