The ruling on seeking blessing from what separated from the body of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q188: The questioner is an Egyptian residing in the city of Dammam. He says in his question: Did the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) seek blessing from the hair of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and his traces? And what is our obligation toward our Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)?
A188: Yes, the Companions used to seek blessing from what separated from the body of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him); from his saliva, from his hair, from his clothes, and from his sweat. From what separated from his noble body, they
used to seek blessing from it. And if something of him remained after his death, such as his hair, then seeking blessing from it continues until it is exhausted. As for seeking blessing from his dwellings, his journeys, his house, and his chamber; this is not permissible. This is not among the traces of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) that separated from his body.
