The Ruling on Seeking Blessing from His Grave (peace and blessings be upon him)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is seeking blessing from the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) grave permissible?

Answer:
It is not permissible; rather, it is a religious innovation and one of the means to associating partners with Allah. Seeking blessing from Zayd, or 'Amr, or from the walls of the Ka'bah, or from anything similar to them, or from the pillars, is an innovation that may lead to associating partners with Allah if one believes that the blessing is obtained from them. However, if one believes that it is prescribed, then it is an innovation. It is obligatory to leave that alone. Seeking blessing from him (peace and blessings be upon him) was only prescribed during his lifetime. Likewise, Allah has prescribed seeking blessing from the water of Zamzam, which Allah has made blessed.
But it is obligatory for the believer to adhere to the Shari'ah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and to be cautious of what contradicts it. And success is from Allah.
