The period after which zakah becomes due

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of fatwa number ( 21488 )
Q3: I have a sum of money, which is (80,000 eighty thousand riyals), and I use this amount to buy and sell cars on installment, such that whenever I have a sum of installments available, I buy a car and sell it in the same manner, and the lunar year does not pass while I have any of it in my possession.
Vol. 3: The lunar year begins for this amount from the time you took possession of it. Once the lunar year is completed, zakah becomes obligatory on it. Your dealing with it by buying and selling cars does not interrupt the lunar year, for the criterion is the completion of the lunar year for the principal, which is the amount mentioned. If a profit is obtained through buying and selling, the lunar year for the profit is the same as the lunar year for the principal. Therefore, you pay zakah on the profit following the principal at the end of each lunar year, and you pay zakah on the cars in your possession that are
offered for sale. You estimate their value when the lunar year for the principal is completed, and you pay zakah on the cash amounts you have in the debts of people as previously explained. If you have cash resulting from buying and selling with the mentioned amount, you also pay zakah on it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
