How to calculate the zakah on wealth that increases and decreases over the lunar year

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says in another question: After I paid the zakah on my wealth for last year, specifically at the end of last Ramadan, the total amount remaining with me was twenty-five thousand riyals. Then I saved an amount from my monthly salary, so that I had thirty-five thousand riyals with me. Then I bought some items from this money, so that what I have now is twenty-one thousand riyals. And so the amount increases and decreases. How do I pay the zakah this year? Is the zakah estimated based on what I own and have in my possession in the coming Ramadan—Allah willing—or based on the twenty-five thousand? Please guide us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
You must pay the zakah on the amount that completes the lunar year (hawl). If the hawl completes on twenty-five thousand, you pay zakah on twenty-five thousand. If it completes on more than that, you pay zakah on that amount. As for what comes to you from your salary or otherwise, and then you spend it before the hawl completes, there is no zakah on it. If you receive a salary, or a gift from someone, or the price of a sale—for example, you sold some of your household goods—this new money that has come to you has no zakah on it until the hawl completes on it, until a full year passes over it. If you spend it before the hawl completes on it, there is no zakah on it.
The point is: the zakah is due on the amount that completes the hawl, and on its profit if it has any profit. Its profit follows it; there is no need for a separate hawl. So if you had twenty-five thousand, and then you made a profit, selling and buying until it became thirty thousand or more, you pay zakah on the whole amount if the hawl completes on the principal. As for the increases that come to you from a salary, or a gift, or the like, there is no zakah on them until the hawl passes over them. Yes.
