The Wealth in Which Zakah Is Obligatory

Fatwa No. ( 16775 )
Q: A widow has several children, and her family and relatives provide her with continuous, regular financial assistance, to the extent that she has accumulated a sum of (40,000) forty thousand Saudi riyals from these contributions. Is zakah obligatory on her if a lunar year passes over this amount? She does not own a house to live in, but rather lives in a rented place, nor does she own a means of transportation.
A: Zakah is obligatory on the wealth you have accumulated once it reaches the nisab, for every complete lunar year that passes over it. The first lunar year begins when the wealth reaches the nisab, and so on. The justifications you mentioned do not prevent the obligation of zakah.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
