If a lunar year has passed over the money you use for buying and selling, then zakah becomes obligatory on it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of fatwa number ( 16386 )
Q1: I sell cocoa. Should I withhold the zakah immediately upon selling it, or should I wait until the following year to receive the money and then withhold the zakah?
A1: If a lunar year has passed over the money you use for buying and selling, then zakah becomes obligatory on it. If, upon the completion of the lunar year, you have used the cash to purchase commercial goods, you must appraise those goods at their value at the time the lunar year completed on the money you used to buy them, and you must pay the zakah from the appraised value, which is one-quarter of one-tenth.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
