Entering the state of ihram for Hajj and 'Umrah together

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 20173 )
Q5: Is it permissible to enter the state of ihram for Hajj and 'Umrah together ?
Volume 5: Yes, it is permissible for a Muslim to enter the state of ihram for both Hajj and 'Umrah at the same time during the months of Hajj. He should intend both Hajj and 'Umrah when entering ihram from the miqat, and he should perform tawaf and sa'y for both, following the action of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in his Hajj, as indicated by the authentic hadiths. He would be performing qiran between Hajj and 'Umrah. It is recommended (sunnah) for him to exit the state of ihram with 'Umrah if he does not have a sacrificial animal (hady), as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his companions to do so in the Farewell Pilgrimage. He may also enter the state of ihram for 'Umrah alone from the miqat and then add Hajj to it.
Before he begins the tawaf of 'Umrah, except for the one who has brought a sacrificial animal, for whom it is prescribed to add Hajj to the 'Umrah even after its tawaf, until he exits the state of ihram from both; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered those who brought a sacrificial animal to do so. As for the pilgrim who intends tamattu', he enters the state of ihram for 'Umrah during the months of Hajj, then completes it and exits the state of ihram, and then enters the state of ihram for Hajj in that same year. If he enters the state of ihram for Hajj before beginning the tawaf of 'Umrah, he becomes one performing qiran. As for the one performing ifrad, he enters the state of ihram from the miqat for Hajj alone. If he enters the state of ihram for Hajj alone from the miqat, it is not valid for him to add 'Umrah to it, nor does he become one performing qiran by doing so, because there is no basis for this and no evidence indicating it. However, it is prescribed for him to break his state of ihram for Hajj and convert it to 'Umrah, so he performs tawaf and sa'y, shortens his hair, and exits the state of ihram if he does not have a sacrificial animal. Then he enters the state of ihram for Hajj on the eighth day of Dhul-Hijjah, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his companions to do so. As for the one who has a sacrificial animal, he remains in his state of ihram until the Day of Sacrifice. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
