Q: Is zakah obligatory on the gold and silver found on swords, daggers, belts, and similar items, or not? Please note that some swords and daggers are mostly made of gold or silver. May Allah grant you success.
A: Zakah is obligatory on swords made of gold and silver, and on the gold and silver placed on them, if the silver or gold reaches the nisab (minimum threshold for zakah) by itself or by adding it to other currencies or trade goods, and a lunar year has passed over it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
