Collecting the funds for zakat al-fitr is not its payment
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q3: Is collecting the funds for zakat al-fitr considered its payment and fulfillment, or must it reach the hand of the poor person before the festival prayer? And if some of those to whom it is intended to be given are absent, what is the Shari'ah solution for that?
A3 : Collecting the funds for zakat al-fitr is not considered its payment. It is obligatory to deliver it to the poor person before the festival prayer. If the poor person is absent, he may appoint someone he trusts to receive it, or it may be given to another poor person who is present before the festival prayer. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
