The first question of Fatwa number ( 16656 )
Q1: A person gave me some money for the purpose of traveling to seek knowledge, but circumstances prevented me from doing so. Should I keep it, or give it to its owner?
A1 : You must inform the donor of the actual situation. If he permits you to keep it, that is fine; otherwise, you must return the amount to him because the purpose for which the money was given has not been realized. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
