The Ruling on Zakat al-Fitr and the Place Where It Is Distributed

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 14893 )
Q2: It is customary for all my male brothers to give my mother Zakat al-Fitr to distribute, given that they are not in the town and are mixed in with others . Is that permissible? However, I distribute it on my own initiative, and when she finds out, she gets very angry with me. Is there any error in that, and am I sinning against my mother?
A2 : Your brothers must distribute Zakat al-Fitr on their behalf to the poor present in the countries where they are located at the time Zakat al-Fitr becomes obligatory. If there are no poor people among them and they send it to their mother for distribution, it is not permissible for you to distribute it without her permission; because she is the agent. She must distribute it herself or through a trustworthy person she approves of, whether that is you or someone else. May Allah improve the condition of everyone. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
