Q: A sister was borrowing from the funds of charity and zakah, and she intended to return these amounts. She is not among those entitled to charity or zakah, and the amounts have accumulated on her. She has repented to Allah with sincere repentance. What should she do with these debts, given that she does not have the ability to pay them off? What do you advise her?
A : It is obligatory for her to return every amount to its owner, and to inform him that when she took it, she was not among those entitled to zakah or charity, and that she took it with the intention of returning it to its owners. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
