Q: What is your opinion, may you be blessed, regarding one who makes his zakah for the renovation of mosques , whether that involves construction and building, or repair and furnishing and the like? Is it permissible to spend it in those ways, and does that fall under the cause of Allah or the traveler in the path of Allah?
A: If the matter is as described, it is not permissible to pay zakah in what you mentioned, and whoever does so must pay zakah on its equivalent. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
