A number of citizens, more than twenty in number, whose names are not permissible in Islamic law

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 16667 )
Q: I am with a number of citizens, more than twenty in number, whose names are not permissible in Islamic law. It is not easy to change them except with a fatwa, as we have sons and daughters who are employees and students at all levels, including university students. Therefore, we hope you will authorize the Civil Affairs Department in al-Jawf with that fatwa so that we can copy our current names and choose others. Once this is done, we will provide our children with the new name and a copy of the fatwa. May Allah reward you with good. Attachment: I am a retired non-commissioned officer, and my partners in the name are also among them
retired, which makes the matter difficult except with a fatwa, as we are required to provide the Department of Retirees' Affairs with a copy of this. And success is from Allah.

A: There is no disagreement that it is not permissible to use a name and attach it to anything other than one of the names of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, whose usage has been established in the Book or the authentic Sunnah. Accordingly, the term "al-Muslih" (the Reformer) is not one of the names of Allah the Exalted, so it is not permissible for a servant to be named "Abd al-Muslih" (Servant of the Reformer). For this reason, this name must be changed and replaced with a lawful name, such as: Abdullah, Abd al-Rahman, Abd al-Aziz, Abd al-Rahim, Abd al-Wahhab, Abd al-Latif, Abd al-Qadus, Abd al-Mu'min, Abd al-Muhaymin, Abd al-Salam, Abd al-Jabbar, Abd al-Khaliq, Abd al-Bari, and many others like these, praise be to Allah. Or one may be named after a prophet of Allah, or one of His righteous servants, such as: Muhammad, Ahmad, Ibrahim, Isma'il, Adam, Ishaq, Zakariya, Yusuf, Yunus, Sulayman, Umar, Uthman, and Ali. And so on, from the well-known good names that do not involve servitude to anyone other than Allah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
