Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 14482 )
Q: A person has had livestock of the goat variety for (15) years without paying their zakat. The number was (40) head, and sometimes (100) head. After learning that a sin might be incumbent upon him as a result, he wished to know the ruling. What is it, and what is obligatory upon him? Please note that he paid the zakat of four goats for one of those years, and after that the livestock perished, and he has not had any type of livestock up to this time. Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
A: Zakat becomes obligatory on sheep if they are grazing for most of the lunar year, reach forty in number, and a lunar year has passed over them. This is every year. Therefore, the person mentioned must pay the zakat for the past years for which he did not pay
its zakat, along with repentance and seeking forgiveness. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
