Fatwa number ( 16054 )
Q: We have heard from some people a statement to the effect that if a person dies and his family consumes fruit and tea during the first three days of his death, then after a year has passed since that person's death, one of his family members or relatives will die. .
A : There is no truth to the claim that if a person dies and his family consumes fruit and tea, one of his family members will die after a fixed period. This is one of the superstitions and beliefs of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance (jahiliyyah), because lifespans are in the hand of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and fruit and tea are permissible (mubah) absolutely, at any time. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
